It is just short of 2 weeks until the barn is open again and we have been busy bringing in "new" junk for everyone to enjoy. I can't wait to do the moving and decorating in the barn. It is fun to create and whirl everything into a new barn each month. Summer is running past us and heading straight into fall with its clean crispness and golden colors. The pumpkins that I had outside the barn last October have graced us with new plants and pumpkins to enjoy this season (I absolutely love accidental gardening...it planted itself!)
I hope everyone takes advantage of fall to enjoy the outdoors...because winter is just around the corner. September 11 and October 9th at the barn will be exploding with new ideas and "new" junk to play with during those long snowy months...winter is the best time to cozy up at home and make it the place of your dreams.
Hope to see everyone soon! Until then...happy junkin' Carla at the Barn

Saturday, August 21, 2010

Well, what a season we have had, rain, hot, and more rain and hot. Maybe the weather will calm down now and we will have a purfect fall made for junkin and getting ready to settle in for the winter with all of our favorite new finds. Our family just returned from a trip to Colorado and I found all kinds of new inspiration that I will be incorporating into my September 11th opening. It is so much fun to travel to new areas and see what different things they have done to spruce up their homes and gardens!
I will have new pictures up shortly with many new ideas and finds that be in the barn. If you have never been to the barn this will be a great time to see the barn in all of its fall splendor (and I hope to see all of you regulars so that we can chat and catch up!). For the September opening I will be running a special, for every $25 you spend in September I will give you a $5 off certificate that you can use towards any purchase during the October 9th 9-3pm opening.
Hope everyone has recovered from all of the water and heat and that you are ready to start having fun again...at the barn we can help you with that perfect find!
Be sure to check back often for all of the new photos!

READY FOR SATURDAY JULY 24, 2010

OPEN 9-3

Wow! Time flies so fast, it seems like just last week I was open for the first time this year. I have been neglecting my "blogger" duties since I have been so preoccupied re-vampimg the barn for this coming weekend! I am so excited for everyone to see the new inventory and great finds. Summer has been what summer always is....busy! Finding time between the hot or rainy weather to search for new treasures, projecting my finds, and decorating has proved in itself to be challenging. With so many large items that sold last month the barn looked a little bare and needed attention. The barn is now officially restocked and ready for Saturday! New items include: 50's Ice Cream Parlor Table and Chairs, primitive tables, metal industrial shelves, ironware, and glassware! Below I have included some photos of my new items, looks like it is going to be a beautiful day for junking hope to see you then!

Wow! What a day Saturday was... you all made me jealous that I wasn't out junkin, but I had so much fun at the barn watching all of the enthusiasum and excitement! Thanks for providing all of us with such a fun day (and I thought it was just going to be hot and miserable... it couldn't have been further from that!). I have so many empty spots in the barn now I will be able to fill with many new treasures (you all weren't aware that at least 5 of the large items were sold and set for delivery at the end of the day, so be prepared to be wowed next month on the 24th). I will try to get pictures up soon! Hope you all had as much fun as we did. I will also be at Tuesday Markets this month in Gilbert as often as possible (for sure this week on June 29th). Hope to see you there! In the mean time happy junkin'! Carla

Saturday's going to be one of those hot lazy summer days that many of us longed for all winter----when the snow was deep and we were tired of shoveling! Be sure to stop by the barn for all of the fresh ideas and treasures of the season. Ask about other sales in the area and we will direct you to other fun places to visit and experience! Looking forward to seeing everyone!! Below is just a preview of all the great ideas! Enjoy the summer day and treasure hunting!

We've been so busy projecting and getting out all of the new finds for this year that I have been neglecting to update you all on what is happening. I have been inspired by all of the greens, and pastels that spring brings with it. Buttercup yellow is my favorite and it looks beautiful with all of the flowers now blooming profusely. The shop is coming together and photos will be up soon so that all may get a sneak peak at what June 26th will be like at the barn. I've already had a visit from an Atlanta, GA dealer who purchases items at the barn to take to shows in Atlanta, Charlotte, and surrounding areas (she says you can't beat Iowa junkin')!
Be sure to check back for our many garden and porch ideas for your home. Can't wait to see everyone soon be sure to mark June 26th on your calendars!

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Looks like the week ahead is going to be sunny and warmer...just what we junkers need to get going and create some fun. Gilbert is having Tuesday Markets again this Tuesday the 18th. There were so many shop openings that I didn't get to the last couple of weekends due to graduations, my own clearing out garage sale, etc., but I am now organized and ready to go for the season! Bring on summer!

Had a great time at Tuesday Markets in Gilbert. Thanks to Brenda and Jo for all your hard work! There was a good turnout despite the windy weather. Tuesday Markets are each week through October from 4-7 if you get a chance stop by it's a great way to see new ideas, visit with friends, and have a fun evening! What a great kickoff to the season!

Spring has arrived...

I love the hundreds of different greens when everything starts to bud. It brings a new life to the countryside and puts the winter in the past. I am getting ready to start all of my projects at the barn in anticipation of my June opening!
